Frequently asked questions

What is “My profile” and how can I access it?

All of our users have an editable profile where you can upload a photo and add additional details about yourself.
Access your profile by logging in and clicking on your name on the site page (this is usually found in the top right hand corner of the page) or by clicking on My profile in the Navigation block on the left hand side of the screen.
In the Administration block, click Edit profile.  Edit the fields you wish to change.

How do I change my account password?

You can change your password anytime by going to My Profile and click on Change password in the Administration block and follow the steps.

I have forgotten my account username/password!

Your moodle username and password can be found on your ‘confirmation of enrolment’ letter.  When you first log on, you will be required to create a new password.  If you cannot find these details you can also go to the Home login page and click on Forgotten your username or password.  Enter the email address you would have used on your original application form, and your details will be emailed to you on how to regain your access.

Do I get a CQU student number and student ID?

Due to the nature of all the CPD online courses being non-award, students enrolled in courses will not receive a CQU student ID and number.

What is a forum and how do I behave in a forum?

Forums/Discussions/Teacher Chats are useful places where you can discuss topics with your peers, ask questions relating to your course, receive information and sometimes engage in required course-specific work/assessment.

As with any form of communication, written, spoken or otherwise, it is important that you show respect to those you are conversing with.  Remember it is more difficult to ‘take something back’ than not saying it to start with!

Although CPD Online forum posts are not made available outside CPD, remember that contributions are still in the public domain and ‘committed to posterity.’

Nevertheless, you should not flinch from being honest, controversial and passionate, but keep your comments on topic and avoid making personal remarks.

Not all courses have a forum or chat feature.

How do I submit an assignment on Moodle?

All our courses have some form of assessment.  There are various forms of assessments including quizzes, short answers, short essays, forum discussions, etc.

All assessments can be found under the block heading of Assessment in each course.  This way you can tell which activities within your course is just that – an activity – or an assessable activity.

Please note: Some assessments are TIME RESTRICTED.  This means you will need to complete them within a certain time frame, in the one sitting and cannot return to it at a later stage.

How do I enrol into a Moodle course?

Depending on what course you are studying with CPD Online will depend on whether you are able to self-enrol or not.  You will be prompted to self-enrol or you will be sent an email from our Centre to confirm your enrolment into a particular course.

The short courses may require us to enrol you and you will be contacted by the Centre to confirm your enrolment.

How do I know which are the free courses and those I have to pay for?

All free courses will have this symbol [← on the far right of their title.

All fee courses will have the PayPal symbol on the far right of their title.
